Support For Women And Families: Do You Need Help?
Women’s Empowerment Partnership is a small nonprofit organization based in Eugene, Oregon, whose mission is to provide assistance that leads to women and their families rising out of poverty permanently. In 2005, we began working with local women and their families experiencing homelessness and/or poverty. While we’re currently small-scale with limited funds, our focus remains on eliminating obstacles for women and families to enable them to break free from poverty and achieve self-sufficiency.
Our services include: get-into-housing costs, housing stability, help with utility and internet bills, maintenance of phone service and transportation, emergency food aid when community resources have run out, some medical and dental care, minor legal expenses, and funds for training and education costs–as funds allow.
If you need help, please feel free to contact us.
Our process for assisting clients is as follows:
Call Sylvia Gregory at (541) 485-3406, and she will get back to you as soon as possible and will arrange to meet with you in person. At that meeting, clients will complete a short application. The application then goes to our funding committee to decide if and how we can assist. This process takes as little as a couple of days.
General Guidelines
1. Source of Income: In general, clients need to have a source of income, which can be income from a job, Supplemental Security Income (SSI), Social Security Disability (SSD), or financial aid for higher education. PLEASE NOTE: SYLVIA WILL BE OUT OF THE COUNTRY IN EL SALVADOR DEC. 16TH 2023 TO JAN. 12TH 2024.
2. Long-Term Stabilization: Once accepted as a client, we will do everything possible to assist you in getting into housing and getting to a livable wage. If a client becomes financially unstable again, we will try to bridge the gap. However, this also depends on our seeing the client make every effort to maintain employment and thus, income.
3. Substance Use Disorder: We expect all clients to be free of alcohol and drug addiction, as long-term health and stability depend on being clean and sober. If you have a substance use disorder, we recommend you get into treatment. Willamette Family Treatment Center is not only an excellent program but also serves clients who do not have the resources to pay for treatment.
